It’s Malcolm Mooi from Johannesburg, South Africa and I’m the founder and CEO of MyDigiVault. The company was formed in 2014 and is attempting to solve the problem of unclaimed benefits which is currently estimated at 40 billion Rand in pension funds annually. Now, this problem is not unique to South Africa and it is not limited to pension funds alone. In 2015, we participated in the SWIFT Innotribe Challenge and finished as a semifinalist, identified for our ability and potential to make an important innovation in the finance sector. As a startup though, we faced many challenges with regards to the lack of resources and expertise required to solve some of the conflicts, business model, and gamification processes. In 2018, I connected with TELANTO who is a business and academic network that is digitizing collaboration between the industry and universities from across the world. I’m currently working with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and I’ve been assigned 24th year business accounting student who are attempting to solve some of the challenges that we couldn’t solve as a startup. This type of innovation speak to the future of work, and our ability to collaborate across continents at little to zero cost. I’m really excited to be part of the TELANTO network.
