The evidence is devastating, the UN estimates that there are more than 300 million tons of plastics are produced each year, with single use plastics making up for 50% of the worlds production. Worst yet, 91% of plastic end up in landfills or in the ocean - 8 million metric tons of plastic enters the ocean as pollution each year.
The use of plastics is a growing concern for environmentalist, corporations and governments alike, yet polymers fulfil a crucial role in society -ventilators have been saving thousands of people's lives in times of COVID-. A new report released by the Royal Society of Chemistry suggest that the ¨Future of sustainable technologies may depend on plastics¨.
The questions then begs, how can we, as well as organizations take an active role in #BeatPlasticPollution to build a sustainable and circular future for plastics?
Craig is responsible to advance Borealis’ Sustainability and Public Affairs agenda with particular focus on addressing social and environmental challenges and progressing the Plastics Circular Economy.
